Tasks for this week...

This week, we are focused on looking at parallelism and other syntactical elements, and various pre-20th century writers' views on education.  We will be familiarizing ourselves with various terms of importance from ch. 3 in class as well:

The works we will be reading include:

• Francis Bacon's "Of Studies" and Samuel Johnson's "On Studies" (a response to Bacon's work) using this doc as we discuss
• Emerson's "On Education":  in-class reading using D.A.N.C.E. skills and discussion with this application activity
• Quotes from Henry David Thoreau about education & this modern perspective on Thoreau's education views
